BREAK EVERY CHAIN
Set the captive free
Isaiah 58:6
“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?”
God spoke to Israel through the prophet Isaiah in order to change their understanding of praying and fasting. They were making perceived sacrifices outwardly while surrendering very little inwardly. God’s desire is to break the chains that restrain us from truly knowing Him.
As we seek God’s heart for our homes, church, and community, He is calling us to stop pursuing a life that looks “religiously” good. Because we naturally crave worldly approval, we have a tendency to seek spiritual rituals that glorify our flesh. We may seek the peace of God without surrendering to Him as the steward of it.
We live in an area full of religion but lacking a relationship with Christ. As we seek to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, let’s pray our community will be attracted to a church that knows God, rather than just knows of Him.
As you pray over our church and community this week, let’s pray that:
- God will break chains that restrain us
- God will lead us toward true surrender
- We will worship in Spirit and Truth
- Our community will know God, not just of Him
